There are so many reasons to incorporate CBD oil into your diet and benefit from cannabidiol’s anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety and anti-depressant properties. From throwing it into smoothies and salad dressings to concocting super-powered butters and desserts, cooking with CBD oil has never been easier. Here are five easy ways to get started.

  1. Smoothies

You might not be a “wake and bake” type of person, but if you’ve never had cannabis for breakfast, you may be missing out on the best way to start your day. Whether you’re a fan of a standard strawberry-banana blend or open to something much greener, adding CBD oil to your smoothie is as easy as throwing in a few drops. To add even more power to your smoothie, consider other health-enhancing smoothie ingredients, like antioxidant-rich blueberries, flax seeds for their omega-3s, vitamin-high bee pollen and nutritious spirulina. A CBD smoothie can also help your recover from a workout more quickly.

  1. CBD-Infused Butter

To make CBD-infused butter, which you can use in place of traditional butter in any low-temperature recipe, simply heat unsalted butter with low heat, add CBD oil and water, cool and then store in a container when you’re ready to use it. CBD butter can also be used in place of traditional butter, so slather it across your whole-wheat toast in the morning or drizzle it over any dish where you’d normally use butter. Some step-by-step instructions on how to make CBD butter can be found here.

  1. Sauces and Dressings

One of the easiest ways to cook with CBD oil is to simply add it to premade sauces, dressings and marinades. According to Epicurious, heating the oil too high can cause it to lose terpenes (affecting potency) and negatively affect flavor. This makes sauces and dressings the perfect base for adding CBD to your foods. Boost up your next salad or make the most of your favorite sandwich with a few drops of cannabidiol.

  1. Cookies and Bliss Balls

Turn cookies into a healthy, restorative dessert with this Paleo-friendly recipe by Nicole Modic. She adds cannabis-infused coconut oil and swaps out refined sugar with low-glycemic coconut sugar. An energizing snack or a healthy dessert option, bliss balls are easy to make with CBD oil. This recipe by holistic nutritionist Stephanie Rome uses coconut oil, macadamia nuts, cinnamon and cacao nibs, which can be stored in your fridge for up to a week and the freezer for up to a month. That’s a decent amount of time to ride on bliss.

  1. Gummies

CBD-infused gummies are a popular confectionery and fun to make at home. After all, why not indulge your sweet tooth and experience the benefits of CBD at the same time? This recipe at Leafly powers gummies with green tea, tart cherry juice and even creamed honey. You can also make a caffeine-free version with herbal tea in place of green.

Keep in mind that dosage depends on each person, so we recommend starting off with a low dose, assessing how your body feels and gradually increasing dosage as you see fit.
