CBD oil has become a popular treatment among medical cannabis patients and the general public alike. Not only is it safe and simple to use, but CBD has also shown tremendous therapeutic potential in the management of numerous symptoms and conditions.

Here are just 3 conditions that CBD may be able to help with.

CBD Oil for Stress

Stress is one of the most common reasons for why people turn to CBD. According to research, CBD may be a useful tool in helping people calm down. One 2014 review of animal studies found that CBD demonstrated both “anxiolytic-like” (anti-anxiety) and “antidepressant-like” properties in both humans and animals.

Other studies support the use of CBD for managing stress. One study from 2011 found that CBD was able to alleviate the symptoms of social anxiety disorder (SAD). The study dosed people suffering from SAD with CBD and placed them in a public speaking situation that would usually trigger their nerves. Researchers found that one single dose of CBD was able to significantly reduce stress during public speech performance.

A 2017 study found that CBD may exert some of its relaxing effects by reducing learned fear. Researchers believe that some moments of stress may be triggered by negative memories from the past. By reducing learned fear, CBD may be able to allow people to return to a calm and collected present state of mind.

There’s no guarantee that CBD will alleviate your stress. It certainly can’t treat long-term anxiety disorders, but many people have found temporary stress relief with just one dose.

Many people who struggle with stress also have trouble sleeping. Anxious thoughts cause a racing mind that simply can prevent you from falling asleep. By helping to alleviate stress, CBD can help people to calm down and fall asleep.

A single-patient study from 2016 studied the effects of PTSD-induced insomnia in a young girl. PTSD can cause anxious and panicky thoughts that tend to cause insomnia. When CBD oil was administered orally, improvements in sleep were noticed. Researchers noted that the CBD oil produced a maintained reduction in stress and caused improvements in both sleep quantity and sleep quality. Researchers also noted that CBD may be a safer alternative to other medications that may cause more serious and severe side effects.

A 2017 review of studies on cannabis and insomnia found that CBD may have therapeutic potential in the treatment of insomnia. The review found that CBD may be able to regulate REM sleep patterns and may be beneficial in the treatment of REM sleep disorder.

Research indicates that CBD may be useful for normal or exercise-induced inflammation and possibly inflammatory discomfort. This may be why it can sometimes be so effective in soothing sore muscles and joints.

Additionally, CBD is believed to inhibit the breakdown of certain endocannabinoids, including anandamide, an endocannabinoid known to regulate discomfort. Endocannabinoids are a critical part of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) – a physiological network that works to keep the body in balance by regulating things such as sleep, appetite, stress, and discomfort levels. Research shows that endocannabinoids directly have a role to play in body comfort and overall wellness. .

When endocannabinoids are finished doing their thing, they are broken down by enzymes and recycled. However, research indicates that CBD may be able to inhibit the breakdown of these compounds, allowing them to work for longer, and maybe even extending their effects.

It’s also believed that CBD’s interactions with TRPV (transient receptor potential channel subfamily V) ECS receptors may also contribute to increasing comfort levels. TRPV receptors are known to modulate things such as pain perception, inflammation, and body temperature. CBD is thought to desensitize these receptors. It’s believed that desensitizing these receptors may result in fewer sensations of discomfort.

As you can see, CBD has demonstrated multi-faceted potential in the management of various kinds of discomfort. While much more research is needed in order to understand exactly how CBD can best be used to tackle discomfort, it has certainly shown promise.

The Best CBD Products

If you want to incorporate CBD oil benefits into your life, make sure you’re using only high-quality CBD products.

Some CBD products are made using questionable manufacturing processes, while others may be made using low-quality hemp. Since hemp is a bio-accumulator known for sucking up the contents of the soil in which it is grown (including toxins, chemicals, and heavy metals), it’s important to ensure that your CBD comes from high-quality flower and is made using high-quality manufacturing processes.

That’s why you should only buy CBD products from trusted brands that are committed to producing trustworthy products. Don’t choose a product just because it’s lower in price. Take some time to research the brand of CBD that you’re buying and to make sure that it is safe to put in your body.

At Papa & Barkley, we use a unique whole-plant infusion method and hemp from trusted farms to create our line of quality CBD products. Check out our shop for a selection of premium CBD oil that can help you take advantage of these CBD oil benefits.

If you’ve heard about the many potential CBD oil benefits, you may be thinking about trying it for yourself. But taking CBD (cannabidiol) isn’t always as simple as, well… taking CBD. Ingesting the right dosage is crucial to making sure that CBD works for you and that it produces the effects you’re looking for. To make things more difficult, your ideal dosage can depend on several different factors. Here’s what you need to know.

Finding Your Ideal CBD Oil Dosage

Finding your ideal dosage is mostly a trial-and-error process. You will inevitably need to experiment a little bit in order to find a dosage that is just right for you and your situation. However, being mindful of certain factors can help to point you in the right direction. The concentration of your product, the effects you wish to experience, your body weight, and the quality of your CBD product can all affect the dosage you need to take.

The concentration of your CBD product is the first thing you need to consider. The more cannabidiol per milliliter or milligram that your product contains, the less of it you will need to consume. So for example, if your CBD oil is super strong, you may only need to take 0.5 ml of it. But if it only contains half as much cannabidiol, you may need to take 1 ml in order to feel the same CBD oil benefits. Take a close look at your product’s label to get an idea of just how much of it you should ingest.

CBD is known to produce different effects at different dosages so it’s important to also consider what exactly you’re looking for from your cannabidiol.

For example, while the Mayo Clinic suggests only 20 mg for discomfort, they suggest between 200–300 mg for epilepsy. Additionally, A 1977 study found that mice dosed with 20 mg of CBD displayed more stimulated behavior, while those dosed with 40 mg seemed to be more sedated. This finding has been supported by much anecdotal evidence from people who find that dosages of under 10 mg can be more stimulating, while those over 25 tend to make them feel more relaxed.

Body Weight

How much you weigh will also affect how much cannabidiol you will need to take. Heavier people tend to require more CBD in order to feel the same effects as lighter people. This means that if you’re on the heavier side, you may require a larger dosage in order to feel the effects that you’re looking for.

The quality of your CBD oil or edible can also affect your dosage. Low-quality products made by untrustworthy brands can sometimes contain less cannabidiol than stated on the label. This can make it much harder to nail down a perfect dosage. That’s why it’s important to only buy the best CBD products possible from a producer and distributor you can trust. That way you can be sure that the product’s labeling is accurate and that you’re actually ingesting the right dosage.

At Papa & Barkley, we share the COAs for all of our products so you can see exactly what’s in them and find the perfect product for your goals.

Don’t settle for a lower-quality product just because it’s cheaper (it usually is), take some time to do your research and find the best CBD products for you.

Experimenting With CBD Dosages

If your doctor or caregiver hasn’t provided you with a recommended dosage, it’s going to take some experimentation in order to find one that gives you the CBD oil benefits that you’re looking for.

The best way to do this is to start low and go slow. If you find that 10 or 15 mg isn’t producing the effects you want it to, then move your dosage up slowly by at most 5 mg at a time. However, if you’re trying to treat a serious condition like epilepsy with CBD, you may need a much larger dosage, and it’s best to speak with your doctor or another health care professional about how much you should take.

Just remember, while the side effects of cannabidiol tend to generally be rare and mild (headache, nausea, diarrhea), they are more likely to happen at larger dosages, especially if your body is not yet accustomed to dealing with CBD. The other thing to keep in mind is that taking too much can also be wasteful. Ideally, you want to find the lowest dosage possible that lets you experience the effects you’re seeking. Anything more is just a waste of valuable cannabidiol.
