Sharing Releaf With Real People

If you could ask us what does Papa & Barkley do for people our answer would be to change people’s lives. Our Releaf line was inspired by a son’s mission to ease his elderly father’s immobilizing back pain. A condition that forced the family to place “Papa” in hospice. The original balm formulated in our founder’s kitchen eased his father’s pain and, in conjunction with other therapies, got Papa off hospice and able to return home. Our Company is named after Papa and the family’s loyal pit bull, Barkley, symbolizing the unconditional love and support that we hope to capture in the products that we make today.

We are proud to share with you the real experiences of people who have tried our products.

6 Ways You Can Use CBD for Better Sex

6 Ways You Can Use CBD for Better Sex

how to use cbd for better sex

CBD for Sex

For those who suffer from stress, performance anxiety or pain in the bedroom, CBD-infused pleasure enhancers are here to help. In recent years, medical experts and scientists have tapped into CBD’s healing properties, including decreased inflammation, improved gut health, calmed nerves, enhanced sleep and more. However, beyond medicinal purposes, cannabidiol can also be used to give your sex life a boost.

As the non-psychoactive ingredient in the marijuana plant, CBD can alleviate inhibition during sex, as well as reduce pain during penetration and enhance sensations. In other words, instead of using another substance (i.e., alcohol) to unwind, CBD can provide similar effects without the hangover or fuzzy memories. In fact, because cannabidiol helps with insomnia, incorporating an edible, vaporizer or CBD-infused lube can actually improve post-sex sleep.

increasing desire cbd for sex

1. Improving Desire

Cannabis can be used as an aphrodisiac in many ways: smoking, vaping, lubricants and eating cannabis chocolates are all popular ways to achieve its aphrodisiac effects. In other words, while the most well-known benefits of CBD are tailored toward anxiety and pain, there’s also a chance that it can help with arousal and desire levels. When applied topically, the CBD and THC dilate your blood vessels, allowing fresh oxygenated blood to flow more easily. In other words, CBD and TCH are vasodilators. Typically, fresh oxygenated blood is associated with increased arousal and stimulation.

2. Relieving Pain

If chronic discomfort or sexual dysfunction are problems, CBD may also be able to help with pain during sex. Studies show that CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory and can be effective as an adjunct treatment for pain. For example, topical, whole-plant CBD balm can help women experiencing painful sexual intercourse due to vaginal dryness or irritation. CBD lube also does the trick.

cbd for sex reduce anxiety

3. Decreasing Anxiety

One of the many ways that people use CBD is to help fight anxiety and improve their mental state. CBD works directly on the body’s endocannabinoid system,  a complex network of receptors in the body that help regulate the nervous system, immune system and the body’s organs. Those receptors, when activated by the body’s own endocannabinoids, can have an anti-anxiety effect on the brain. Furthermore, using CBD in the bedroom can create a feeling of calm, relaxation and elation, translating into enhanced sexual pleasure.

cbd for sex strengthening sensations

4. Strengthening Sensations

When it comes to the female reproductive tract, cannabinoid receptors are found in the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, vagina and vulva, and they play a significant role in the day-to-day pleasures and pain associated with sex. These receptors are key in improving low libido and the inability to achieve orgasms. Men experiencing issues with erectile dysfunction may also benefit from using CBD. As previously mentioned, CBD increases blood flow and nerve sensation, which can help enhance sexual pleasure and intensify orgasms for all parties.

foreplay enhanced cbd for sex

5. Enhancing Foreplay

To help tune into the physical experience of foreplay, CBD lube enhances sensation and climax. Largely due to its ability to repair tissue damage and improve blood flow to the genitals, a coconut oil-based CBD lube is gaining popularity. Combined with THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis, men and women report an enhanced sex drive. Plus, CBD lube relieves women of the pain they sometimes feel during penetration as it relaxes the tissues surrounding the sex organ.

cbd for sex relaxing body oil

6. Relaxing with CBD Body Oil

Fast-absorbing and lightweight, using a sensorial body oil offers targeted topical relief as well as natural energy. In between the sheets, try a CBD-infused body oil to reduce muscle tension and create a soothing sensation. The therapeutic blend of essential oils combined with full-spectrum cannabinoids leverage the natural power of the whole plant. Before getting frisky, massage your partner’s back and arms with CBD body oil.

What is the Right CBD Product for Me?

What is the Right CBD Product for Me?

The sheer volume of different types of cannabis products can be overwhelming, especially for someone who is relatively new to cannabis, so we’re providing a guiding hand of the considerations when choosing the right cannabis product for you.

Selecting the best product is based on several parameters. Consider the following when deciding on the best product for you:

  • The ailment/indication from which you’re seeking relief (does the condition require targeted or whole body relief?)
  • The preferred delivery method (onset time and duration)
  • The potency you want
  • The ratio you are seeking
  • The psychoactivity involved
Papa & Barkley provides a variety of products for different needs

How Does CBD & THC Affect the Body?

Bioavailability refers to the absorption of cannabinoids in the body. This absorption varies by body site and delivery method (i.e., topical, sublingual, ingestion, inhaling). Inhaling 10 mg of CBD through a vape is not equal to ingesting 10 mg of CBD in a tincture. While smoking is an effective delivery method for many, the heat can burn cannabinoids and other phytonutrients, reducing their availability. Some cannabinoids are also lost to side stream smoke. Any smoke in the air obviously doesn’t make it to the cannabinoid receptors. Tinctures administered under the tongue (sublingually) ensure that every milligram of cannabinoid will be absorbed; nothing is lost to heat or smoke. This distinction between smoked and eaten products can seem minor at first glance, but psychoactive cannabinoids like THC can vary quite dramatically under these circumstances. Orally administered THC reaches the stomach and then the liver. The liver turns THC into 11-hydroxy-THC, which reaches the brain more easily. So edible products take longer to have any impact, last longer, and create higher peak experiences than smoked or vaporized ones. Topicals, which include anything placed on the skin like balms and body oils, can create a big impact or a small one depending upon how they are made. Those that focus on natural lipids like the ones found in coconut oil can pass through the skin easily and have a dramatic impact right on the site of contact without ever reaching the brain directly.

CBD & THC work together for maximum efficacy

Cannabis Entourage Effect

Different ailments and conditions need different cannabinoids for maximum efficacy. CBD is one of the strongest anti-inflammatory agents found in nature and THC is one of the strongest natural analgesics (painkillers). Combined, these compounds interact to enhance each other’s therapeutic effects; the “entourage effect” refers to this concept that cannabinoids (such as THC and CBD) and terpenes work together to maximize benefits in the body. Different ratios of cannabinoids have the potential to interact with different terpenes to create novel effects on body and mind.

What is the Right CBD to THC Ratio?

Each person’s body and endocannabinoid system are unique, with different needs and receptors. We believe cannabis should not be one size fits all. We also believe – thanks to research – that optimal therapeutic efficacy requires a ratio of both CBD, a non-psychoactive compound, and THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis. Papa & Barkley offers a suite of products in different ratios, allowing you to select the best ratio for you and your therapeutic needs.

You can find the ratio of THC to CBD on the product label. The larger the amount of THC to CBD, the more THC-rich the product is and vice versa.

A 3:1 THC to CBD ratio is a good starting point for most people seeking pain relief. A ratio of 1:1 is a balanced holistic approach and 1:3 is often ideal for chronic inflammation and other conditions.

Will CBD Get Me High?

Will these products get me “high,” or do they cause psychoactivity? Psychoactivity is an important consideration when selecting a product. While psychoactivity is therapeutic and, for example, an important factor for those seeking restful sleep, we recognize psychoactivity can be inhibiting during the work day.

In much the same way that drinking a bottle of NyQuil might make you feel “high,” consuming too much cannabis can cause major dysphoria. When taken responsibly, you can avoid unintended psychoactivity.

Dosing with CBD decreases psychoactivity

Helpful Tips for Dosing With CBD:

  • Use a topical for localized effect and to avoid psychoactivity
  • If ingesting or smoking, start with a small dose and increase the dosage by 5 mg increments. Note the onset time and if you are getting the desired effect.
  • Use CBD to counteract any unintended psychoactivity.
  • Look for products with THCa or lower ratios of THC to minimize psychoactivity.
Papa & Barkley specializes in CBD balms, body oils, soaks, patches, tinctures, and capsules

CBD Balms, Body Oils & Soaks

No psychoactivity. Topicals provide localized relief where applied on the skin; they do not penetrate all layers of the skin to enter the bloodstream, so cannot have a psychoactive effect.

CBD Patches

A THC-rich transdermal patch penetrates all layers of the skin to enter the bloodstream, which can cause a psychoactive effect, but also enables the product to provide full body relief. Patches release slowly, so they can deliver the full cannabinoid content over the course of 12 hours.

CBD & THC Tinctures

Potential psychoactive effect with a THC-rich ratio; tinctures and capsules enter the bloodstream when they are metabolized. THCa tincture should not cause psychoactivity. Tinctures/capsules provide full body relief.
