Raise your hand if you remember the first time learning to ski or snowboard? I remember the experience like it was yesterday. I was 22 and several of my family members decided it would be a great idea to go to Mt. Baldy, a winter resort in the San Gabriel Mountains of California, for the weekend because it had been raining for a week.
After an hour and a half car ride we arrived and my excitement was brimming. Today I would finally join the ranks of many others who knew the thrill of flying down a mountain on a snowboard. After several lessons on the bunny slopes, I decided it was time for me to go out on my own. This was a big mistake—I fell so many times that it took me nearly an hour to get down to the lodge again. But I got better, and my skill increased with each run.
As evening came on, the physical toll had begun to take its effect though. My entire body was sore, my legs were in pain, and I had a fairly decent goggle-shaped sunburn on my cheeks. In fact, I was in so much pain from falling over and over that I could barely catch any sleep. My only recourse was at the time was ibuprofen and staying as still as possible in bed. It was a long night. But I think that if I had access to cannabis topicals, I wouldn’t have had such a rough physical experience that weekend.
